No Other Way

Each year, I read the various Gospel accounts of Easter, looking for new revelation and insight into this most defining moment in human history. This year, I was reading in Mark. I was struck deeply by Jesus’s prayer in the garden. I’ll paraphrase: “Daddy, all things are possible with you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

Jesus prayed this same prayer twice, Mark tells us. What struck me to the core—all things are possible with you.

He knew God always has surprise options. But not this time. The answer from the beginning of time, the plan for the redemption of man, was through the cross. For justice to be served from the courtroom in heaven, there was only one option because of sin.

And so the sweat became drops of blood as Jesus accepted his Father’s will, dying in our place and giving birth at the same time to this new concept of grace.

Wow, we are here because there was no other way. Think about that. The love beyond comprehension literally took our place on the cross. There was no other way…

Good Friday is good because grace was born with the death of Jesus that day. And on Sunday, Jesus' friends would know!

Happy Easter. My prayer is that you would discover new revelation to encourage your heart this Easter.
