“The Most Important Paragraph I Have Ever Written…”
A sneak preview to “Raising greatness”: p. 118-119
“Doing everything this book has said up until this point can very well lead to exceptionalism and even compliance from those we raise. But true freedom can only be found in the deposit from heaven. And that deposit is awe. And that awe comes from the most selfless act in history-Jesus going willfully to the cross. Listen to this verse carefully, But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8.
Here is the truth: until we receive the immense weight of this selfless act from Jesus, our selfless acts will emanate from our striving, not freedom. When we receive it, finally get it, our lives are changed and we are compelled to live selfless lives, because of what Jesus did for each of us on the cross, not because of our striving. We then gladly, with great joy, live fully to make the lives around us better. And when we get it, we are compelled to be exceptional for that purpose and no other. And therefore, we live, love, work, compete fearlessly because that purpose comes with freedom, not stress and striving. That is the secret of freedom in the chaos. This is the most important paragraph I have ever written. When I live here, really get it, I wake up without fear, full of grace, full of love, and an unbridled exhilaration for pursuing my dreams and purpose with selfless exceptionalism. And so will you.
When those we raise, lead, and mentor see that light in us, they will want it. When they see striving in us instead, they rebel. We all are compelled by freedom and repelled by law.
Our dilemma? We can't force awe on those we raise; it is a deposit from heaven. However, our lives can be glimpses to heaven, leading them to seek the source.”
