I thought philosophically for a moment. Don’t we all need a Johnny in our lives? Where have the Johnnies gone in our world?

Commentary:

I shared last week about our recent harrowing battle with COVID for three weeks in a hotel far from home. There are heroes to the story. On the way down out of the mountains for a break because of altitude sickness (hypoxia), a friend of mine out of the blue contacted a guy we didn’t know about getting us an oxygen machine to take with us. I immediately got a call from Brandon and he handed off a high-end oxygen machine no questions asked. I saw him for 3 minutes. When I left he said he was praying for us. A couple weeks later, we got COVID in a hotel down in Denver. My daughter was hanging by a thread and using his oxygen machine around the clock to save her life. The next thing I know, Brandon calls and says that God told him to bring us another machine (Karen and I were coming down with COVID.) The difference this time was that he lived 2 hours away up in the mountains (4 hour round trip to help a guy he didn’t know). He came. He brought the second machine that subsequently kept me alive for weeks. When he handed it off, he stood in the parking lot in light rain with a supernatural look to him. I knew then that God had anointed this man for this moment and that we would become great friends for life. Brandon is a hero to our family. He is one of God’s mighty men. He is my friend for life. It is amazing how God puts the puzzle together. I can’t wait for the adventures with Jesus that await me and my new friend… Brandon. In my book, I ask the question, “Where have all the Johnnies gone?” I found one… his name is Brandon. I pray that you will find one and that you will be one as well.

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
