Not By Chance

Short and sweet today. You know by now that I’m always looking for God to show up in such surprising ways. This past week in Utopia I met with a former Texas Open Champion from the PGA Tour in Utopia. His name is David Ogrin. He beat Tiger Woods to win! You remember in my book and movie, our golfer won the Texas Open beating the best player in the world. So it was so surreal to be walking the Links of Utopia with David as he shared his life and dreams with me. He recently bought some land in Utopia. And his dream—when he retires from his current job as a golf instructor in a few years, he dreams of moving to Utopia and teaching golf to kids at the Links of Utopia. Only God could do something so absolutely creative. One day David will become our real life Johnny. Such a beautiful story. And the icing on the cake, after we walked and talked at the golf course we were having breakfast at the Lost Maples cafe when the owner came over to tell me that she had met a former PGA Tour player on a recent trip to California. A chance meeting. She shared his name with me and David chimed in, “He and his wife are God parents to my daughter.”

I love how God continues to weave the tapestry… be on the lookout in your life too. He loves to surprise you just to let you know He is there. And it’s not by chance…
