Dusk In Utopia
I’m sitting on the back porch of our dear friend’s cabin at dusk in Utopia. We come here monthly to sign “greatness” books at our ministry headquarters. 1,800 signed these past two days. All of the books are fulfilled here, postmarked from Utopia.
The distant anvil-shaped clouds are glowing in the sun’s final rays, and the sound of the breeze in the live oak tree encourages my spirit. Three deer are grazing a few yards away as the final chirps of a fencepost sparrow whisper good night. Soon the serene call of the nocturnal whippoorwill will commence.
As the world churns with anxiety and stress at every turn, it is clear that we all need a Utopia moment in our lives. A place that feels secure and unhurried. Peaceful and real. This is such a place, and I am truly blessed. I hope many of you can take a trek here one day.
Until then, know that God cares that each of you has a Utopia moment right where you are. He proves it with the 23rd Psalm. When we read it, we enter His Utopia anywhere and anytime.
“The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me], [Ezek 34:11-31] I shall not want. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still and quiet waters. [Rev 7:17] He refreshes and restores my soul (life); He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. ¶Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the Lord.”
-Psalm 23:1-6 AMP
