Big news today. No, it’s not what you are thinking. It’s not about a list, an Island, a crashing stock market or plane. It’s not about a Hollywood icon’s death. It’s not about conspiracy theories that are true or about more corruption exposed. No, the big news is that peace is yours today. Peace that surpasses all understanding can rule in your mind and heart right now in the midst of everything that wants to create turmoil in your heart. 

Take a trip in your mind with me to Utopia right now. It’s 72 degrees and spring is in the air. The birds have started singing again, the grass is turning green, the wildflower seeds are sprouting and hardy. Sit under the arms of one of the great oaks and look and observe with me in your mind. Take in the early fragrances of the promised spring. Observe the brilliantly colored vermillion flycatcher having breakfast in the air, as if shagging fly balls in spring training. Now listen to your Father in heaven as He asks for your stress distractions in an exchange for the gift of peace. Listen to Him as He speaks encouragement and hope and love into your heart. Listen as He reveals beauty to your soul under that tree in Utopia. Utopia has always been a symbol in my books, movie and blogs for a place beyond the distractions of this life. A place in our minds and heart where we can escape the news of the day and hear His voice. And on days like this—what a gift. Yeah, the big news today is what He wants you to know. You are loved. He is in complete control. And one more thing… and it’s personal just for you. Ask Him right now, as you sit under that Oak in Utopia, what that is today and listen for a surprise…
