…and the testimonies of man

Next week one of my dreams is coming true; hosting a men’s golf retreat in Montana. There will be 7 Jesus followers plus me at The Wilderness Club. They are all really good players and true friends. We will play our club then Stock Farm Club in Hamilton, Montana, then Iron Horse in Whitefish. We did this last year on the west coast.

One evening a local guest joined us after he played in one of the groups as a host member. Dinner outdoors at one of our player’s home near The Valley Club,

near Santa Barbara was magical. We talked late into the evening and the testimonies of God’s Grace in each of our lives was flowing.

As we were winding down, this guest literally broke down and said this. “I’m in my 60’s and I have never seen a group of men in my life sit around the table for hours and talk about God. With tears flowing he shared how much the evening meant to him.” You could tell he longed for more and that the love around that table changed him.

I can’t wait for the stories to flow again and for the Spirit to lead our conversation. The Bible in Revelations states, “They shall overcome by the blood of the Lamb, and the testimonies of men.” Jesus is the focus but He delights and moves through our testimonies of our great adventure through life with Him. And when we share our stories, we all have new armor and hope that helps us overcome all that the world throws at us.

We all want to be overcomers, and we shall in part as we receive the power of God stories, one man to another, around the dinner table and on the course next week in the mountains of Montana.
