A Friday Night Choice in Montana
I’m not sure that I always take into account the importance of seemingly simple daily choices. We are in Montana attempting to meet and interact with locals and others like us who are here part time. We know there is a greater purpose for us being called here.
Part of the adventure with God is discovering that purpose. It usually involves unsuspecting relationships that only God could orchestrate.
Last Friday evening we were about to bail out of an event at a gallery that we had been invited to that was an hour away. We were tired and ready to just have a calm evening at the cabin. But something was stirring in both of us about going. We prayed and both heard from the Spirit that a gift was available if we went.
So we went. We met a new couple that immediately became a deep well friendship. We purchased a a piece of art from them, his wildlife photography was being displayed, that will be on my desk as a reminder of a God redemption story in my life.
We were also given a one of a kind piece of pottery created by the host of the gallery event that will be displayed at the entrance of our cabin and a reminder of their redemptive story that we had the privilege of hearing at a spontaneous dinner with them after the event.
At that dinner we also heard of a new church that was meeting outdoors on a mountain lake. We ended up attending there last Sunday and the backdrop was glorious. We heard a message that resonated and ran into several acquaintances from Texas at the service. I knew meeting them there wasn’t a coincidence, but a set-up
from God, for reasons not yet revealed.
Following the outdoor lake side service Karen and I drove to a place where several food trucks were serving lunch. One that caught our attention advertised authentic Texas BBQ. Of course we chose it. We asked the kind lady what brought her and her husband to Montana from Texas and she said, “God led us here.”
Well as you can imagine that led to further and beneath the surface conversation and a hug between her and Karen that included a knowing that only those that follow a call understand.
Well, as you can see, that one decision last Friday night, spurred on by the Spirit’s leading, opened a floodgate of spiritual gifts and new relationships that could have been missed. Thank you God for the adventure with you…
I have a suspicion that the Lord had me share this with you, because He has some choices in front of you He doesn’t want you to miss.
