"Read it. Devour it. Keep it as a reference book. You’ll be glad you did. Golf’s Sacred Journey is a remarkable and encouraging story with an entirely different approach on how to excel in your golf game. Dig deep and you will realize just how much sense it makes, so much sense that you will adopt Dr. Cook’s concept. I’m convinced it will improve your golf game and your life."

"This book floored me. It reminded me of the many discussions David and I had during my last 7 years in the NBA. The same truths I learned from him on the court are entrenched in this moving story of a young golfer who finds his purpose at the Links of Utopia. This book is full of wisdom that will enhance your game, and I believe it just may change your life."
David Robinson,

"(Golf’s Sacred Journey) has helped me very much to get mentally prepared for the unexpected and my golf has improved; but most of all, you have given us a wonderful vehicle to use when witnessing to others. "I was gripped by the tale and the principles so creatively laid out in Golf’s Sacred Journey. David Cook is obviously not only an outstanding golf professional and mentor to many a distinguished person, David is a strategic thinker, an enthusiastic and creative storyteller, and primarily – as I have read and internalized his book – he is an exceptional guide and counselor. He encourages us to think about golf success, success in life, the primacy of that which is spiritual, and lays out tools for us to maneuver through the rocks of life.
The teachings of Jesus Christ and the principles of the Bible are clearly central to all of David’s exciting advice and counsel. Even his tips on fishing are worth the book!"

"I have just finished reading the book for the second time. I must admit it is one of the best golf books that I have ever read. I have used the SFT on the course since reading the book the first time. I received my ball markers the other day and my grandmother is knitting me a head cover with the SFT on it. It has helped my golf game and realizing that my score is not a reflection of who I am..."
Michael Staley,
Reader
"What a wonderful book. I was given a copy and read it during a hyperbaric treatment. I truly saw myself within many pages of the book. The 1st round that I played (yesterday) after reading the book (I look forward to re-reading it more than once), I truly had one of my most enjoyable days on the course that I can remember! I was so into what I wanted to do with each shot (SFT), and let the misses (physical & mental) float away. I also have been a better person in my daily life, dealing with life’s shanks in a much better manner. I am sending these 10 books to very special people, whom I know will also see the messages of the story!"
Don Barcome Jr,

"One of my students brough me David's books last week. I couldn't believe it. I first met David at a PGA Seminar a million years ago...I was so moved by Golf's Sacred Journey........I've got to have more and use them in my schools and private lessons."

"My son Mark (an outstanding golfer), gave me this book to read on a recent vacation. I generally don't read books--never have--just a problem with me. He seemed so sincere about me reading it--I gave in. I read this book in 3 hours non-stop. I was captivated--it just grabbed me and wouldn't let go. Some great golf tips, although not your usual approach to lessons, and some wonderful storytelling. It gives a different perspective to the game of golf and then finishes with truth about life."

"David--just wanted to let you know what a blessing that Golf's Sacred Journey has been for me. It has provided the "perfect" tool for creating meaningful conversations with my friends who share a love for golf, but haven't found the source for the greatest joy. After reading your book and hearing your talk, I was quickly able to make a list of 10 guys who I am in the process of putting the book in their hands and trusting God with what He is going to do with it.....thanks for your ministry and hope our paths cross someday."

"This is an inspirational book. I am a born again Christian since 2005 and a life long golfer. This book reinforces the word of God and that we should follow Christ throughout our life. I have a 10 year old who is very much into golf and I hope he can define his life by his significance and not his golf score. It has taken me 39 years to figure that one out and I still fall into that trap from time to time. Thank you for reinforcing the path that our boats need to follow!"

"I have been coming to Utopia for 28 years and know all of the places mentioned in the book. Great book. I have a list of guys who I am sending it to. Most of my friends don't believe there is a Utopia in Texas - now the book will put it on the map.

"I love the book. I think about the message(s) that I got out of the book many times a day. I am buying the additional copies to give to my co-workers, friends and family who are also golfers...I picked up my copy of the book at the Concan Country Club. I drove through Utopia to get there from San Antonio. My 12 year old son and I were on a golf vacation through central Texas...because of a very busy and hectic summer, I was on a quest to slow down and seek the truth...the book jumped right into my hand! Tell David and the Team, thank you!"

My husband received a copy of Golf's Sacred Journey from a friend. After he read it, he gave it to me to read. How powerful a message it presents. I was so very moved - often - and found myself wanting to do more, to be more, to give more. I found Christ a few years ago, but through this book found myself wanting, needing more. Thank you for your words and your message. I am passing it on to my lady golfing friends hoping they also will find and live the message. May your days be richly blessed.

I saw David Cook this morning with James Robison and he touched my soul in a way that I'm not sure it has been touched before. I'm excited about reading and sharing this book. I need a change and redirection in my very wonderful and charmed life. I know there's more...

Just watched you on James Robison's Life Today. Am so excited to give the book to my unsaved golfer husband and my "living for Christ" golfer son. Your story so bless me, reminding me of the precious people God has placed into my pathway throughout life, to bring me where I am today. As a Christian columnist, I am working on my first book and the story of the creation of this book encouraged me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And God bless all you do!

What a message....have used "SFT" BEFORE reading SACRED JOURNEY, and NOW am energized even more with the professional pitchers I work daily. THE WHOLE MESSAGE is so "special". Plan on ordering several and giving your book, ESPECIALLY to kids/players that can/will change their lives by reading and applying. Also, THANKS for the gift of REASSURING me that my ol' Johnny approach has merit and is life lasting!!! Good luck.

I am writing you to thank you and all the people associated with Utopia golf. I am the 1989 US Mid-Amateur champion, but, more importantly, a child of God. I just made an order for our church as we have a golf outing coming up where each participant invites an "unchurched" friend to come and participate. I believe you have written a book that believing and unbelieving golfers will enjoy and the fact that it includes the gospel is brilliant. I thank your organization for its contribution to the kingdom and I look forward to meeting all of you one day if our paths should cross. If I can ever be of some assistance please let me know. God's blessings.

...just wanted to let you know what a blessing that "Golf's Sacred Journey" has been for me. It has provided the "perfect" tool for creating meaningful conversations with my friends who share a love for golf, but haven't yet found the source for the greatest joy. I was fortunate to hear you speak in Greenville recently and I was touched by your humility and with how God has ordained your steps throughout the development of the book and the ministry. After reading your book and hearing your talk, I was quickly able to make a list of 10 guys who I am in the process of putting the book in their hands and trusting God with what He is going to do with it.....thanks for your ministry and hope our paths cross someday, God Bless,
You have covered so many things I try to teach and so much more. What a wonderful presentation of truths. Many will be reached by your ministry. Best Wishes.

So much of it relates to all our lives. As we all search for significance called by so many different and meaningless names, "Golf's Sacred Journey" allows us to comprehend that which is so simple yet impossible to discover alone. Thank you.
In April, a daughter of a friend confided in me that she gets very nervous before she plays the trumpet in competitions. This is the case even though she wants to be a professional trumpet performer. In trying to help her, I dug back into my memory of things you told me you did to help athletes when you were at KU. I talked to her about visualizing herself playing and playing well. Her performance worked and she earned a top rating at the 5A state music competition. After we returned home I did a Google search and found your book and ordered it. A few days after it arrived, I started reading it and thought I would read a chapter or so before bed. I laughed. I cried. I prayed. I finished the book in one setting about 2:00 a.m. Take care.

My second order. Great book!!! I have challenged all who receive this from me to order ten and give them to others, and tell them to order 10......... I used parts of the book in my Stewardship talk!!! Thanks.
... I saw David on the James Robison show and immediately thought of many unsaved men and women in my life that love golf and would be touched by the book. When I told my husband about David C. and the book and said I was going to order the 10 pack, he walked into the other room and came back with your book! An acquaintance of my husband from years ago had just given him the book. I read it, loved it and now am placing the order. Thanks for touching lives in this non threatening and inspiring way.
Great Book. I am headed to Champions Tour Q-school today, (Nov 1) and this book has changed me forever. The pressure I felt is gone. I have a new captain of my ship, even though I called myself a good Catholic for decades and thought I had my faith in the proper perspective...I was wrong. I received he book from my sister this week, and I read it in one sitting. Thanks for getting out the message.

I LOVED the book!... I want one for ALL the men on my Christmas list... Thank you. Book was GREAT! and I don't even golf!
I actually got the book from my dad. He had received it from a dear family friend of ours. I could not put the book down! David's story would be a breath of fresh air to any golfer or non-golfer alike. David's testimony was inspiring to me and just might have been the spark that I needed to reignite the flame in my relationship with the Lord. I know I am probably not the first to say it, but throughout the entire story, I saw myself as clear as ever through David's character in the story. I don't know if David is reading this or not, but I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for the testimony and life lessons I found in his book. I know that I can take what I've learned and put it into practice on the golf course, in my everyday life, and most importantly: my relationship with God.

My father sent me this book to read. I finally sat down to read it the other day. I was unable to put it down and could not wait to pick up where I left off every chance I got. The lessons in this book are for anyone out there. Golfer or not. I was moved by the story and all of the lessons along the way. This book is a life lesson for anyone who reads it. Exceptional book.

Thank you so much for your ministry! What an incredible and inspiring book, and I only look forward to sharing it with family, friends and students in that other life-long sport---tennis!! I have taught and coached tennis for over twenty years, and this book hits squarely upon everything I so strongly believe. It not only is the key to freeing up an athlete to compete at his or her best, but it also holds the key to life itself. Truly, it is an amazing and life-changing book, and I simply thank you for bringing home this message in such an uplifting and personal way. I'm sure I will be ordering more!! :) God bless you and your ministry!

"These will be a great Christmas present for my golf school instructors, students and friends, family, and most importantly for my Son D.J., who plays on the PGA Tour. In my golf instruction, I have always included references to GOD as well as I parallel playing golf with living life. Golf's Sacred Journey says it all. And, for a golfer, "GSJ" brings it all to an even more intimate and higher level of awareness, conviction and commitment that benefits their game and their life."

There has been a dozen books I have read in my life that have claimed to be "Life changing". Never have I been so moved by a book so profoundly. It sat on my coffee table for a couple of months since my older brother gave a copy to all of us siblings. I just decided one day to finally pick it up. I knew it would only take me a week or so to go through it. I read it in 4 days. The first time I picked it up I couldn't put it down for hours. By the end of it I was weeping & literally on my knees. This book truly, aside from the Bible, has changed my life. I have to share it. You can't keep Christ bottled up. I am going to give each copy to all the young men in my life. Son, nephews, niece's husbands, daughter's boyfriends, fiance... for Christmas. Thanks so much for this great opportunity. :) God Bless your mission
Friend gave me a copy of this book. I couldn't put it down except for sleep. Plan to give to several friends or associates at Christmas and at the links!
Great book.....I'm back for more!
The book has been a great hit with the guys I play with. I rather enjoy sharing it with a golfer that is not a follower of Christ. The first chapter grabs a golfer by the heart and doesn't let go. The plight ( I can't even recall the golfers name) will grab you right away. And if you enjoy the game, your not likely to put the book down till the end. Christ sneaks in, messes with your heart before you even realize it. I LOVE IT. I read all the time. This book is a keeper and a "give awayer" Now that is not a word but I know you know what I mean. And guys love hard backs and they feel like they have really been given a gift. Until they read they just don't know how valuable of a gift they have been given.

As a Promise Keeper, this book touched me in many ways. I do hope that it's message can ignite my 19 year old son... Thank you for your clear original and insightful message. Keep up the good work.
I caddied professionally from 1988 to 2001. I "retired" when my only child was born Oct. 23, 2002. My relationship failed due to my own causes and my attempts at being a good father have not fared much better. Thanks to this book I will try to do better in all aspects of my life. Thank you.
David... Glad to see you condense all your years of consultation and faith into one package. A long way from the time I visited Kansas as a young champion/man fallen from the pedestal. During my second golf career and today, SFT & back/roll occurs before each putt. God Bless and I'm glad for you and your family.

My company is an avid group of golfers and this book has presented the greatest way for me to share golf secrets and the secret of life with my friends and coworkers. Our CEO, and my friend, has been doing face on putting for years, with a standard putter, and I had a great time this Christmas giving him the book, and a "real" face on putter. My wife surprised me and got me a putter for Christmas also. So much for tradition!

W O W! Had no idea I would be so "touched" by the "gift" & testimonial you (Dr. Cook) shared last night! Thank you so very much! I'm digging into your book later today! Hope to see you down the road soon....this was a MUCH NEEDED EVENT for me to attend! God Bless!
Just finished the book and I was moved by the way Dr Cook blended my favorit game with our purpose for being here --Gods love for us and glorifying Him.

On a Friday in November I arrived at my church to join a small group of people traveling to Sierra Leone to do some work at a mission hospital in Freetown. The wife of one of the guys on the trip handed me this book saying, "Here's a good read for the plane". I read it and passed it around to the others. I'm looking forward to sharing this with the high school golf team members who also go to my church.

I received the book as a gift from my brother... He is an inspiration to me in many ways and often sends me special things such as your book. I enjoyed it tremendously. Although I am not much of a golfer, I plan to use it as a witnessing tool to some of my friends who need a little encouraging in the things of the Lord. Thanks for being used of the Lord!
Thanks for the note. My long-time student and friend (...) dropped me off a copy and I got hooked. I don't know how (he)l got a copy, he just knew it was right for me. As I told (him), it was also the right time in my life to read it. I was so caught up in the teaching aspect that the real message reached up and caught me by surprise. The story reacquainted me with why I am a golf professional as well as what is really important in life. I hope to be able some day to look back and say that I offered something to society and I happened to be a decent golf pro.I am enjoying sharing the story almost as much as I did reading it. Thanks so much.

My parents gave me this book knowing I have a passion to share God's truths. . I look forward to using the wonderful tool of truth. Below is the email I sent them:
email: I finished the Golf's Sacred Journey today. I think it is fantastically well written with a powerful way of presenting God's truth of grace and mercy. To bury one's lies in the cemetery is profoundly symbolic and a necessary process for anyone to be reborn as a new child of God. If you have not gone to the website mentioned in the book yet, it is great! Be sure to visit the link to find out if the player made the putt! I have joined the club as a corporate member as I will have this book readily available for the many people who come through our clinic staggering through the lies in their lives hopelessly seeking significance in their jobs, positions, and money. What a great book to share. Thank you so much for thinking to share it with me. I am very anxious to start handing it out and look forward to see God at work in changing people's lives through a great tool for sharing his words of truth. I will be checking the events in Utopia. Maybe we could go together to a conference. I love you guys.
I was giving this book 1 1/2 years ago, and just put it on a shelf because I never read books, but then one day something told me to read it. So I took it on a trip with me and read it. This book is amazing. It has made me look at the game of golf and life in a different matter. It is a real eye opener. Now that I have read this book, my plans are as follows: I have a friend that has been trying to make it on the tour, and I plan on giving it to him to read and then I'm going to ask him to pass it along to someone else. I believe this book can really change someones thoughts towards life. Thanks for creating such a wonderful story.

"Not being much of a reader, i was rather close minded and skeptical about the book's worth in my my life and my profession. At this moment, i just finished it. I was touched beyond what any words could describe...This book gave me a new perspective on competition and the true meaning of why I am on this earth. With your permission i would like to open up teammates to this book, and new found perspective. Thank you very much for revealing this truth to me and opening my eyes to truth."
"I'm pretty excited to get this book in various hands, as is my husband. We... gave it to 3 different golfing couples ... (who) wrote back saying they "loved" the book, were on the website ordering the face-on putter, etc. I tell them quite honestly, I never--but never!-- read a book twice, as there are just too many books out there that I have to get to in my time on earth. But this book I just finished reading two times! As a former English teacher & writer myself, I know all about metaphors, similes, etc. and recognize top quality writing when I see it. This book has my full attention, not only for unique golf improvement techniques but also with appreciation of its fine literary style. Of course its most meaningful attribute is the artful weaving of the gospel message into the story-line. In fact, I just may read it three times!"
"Wow!! I have been encouraged, challenged and I can't wait to share this book with my golf buddies. I want to be a Johnny!!"

Thank You David Cook. This book has inspired me in many ways. I was an aspiring Tour Professional for many years and am now a PGA Teaching Professional in Southern California. This book has given me perspective in the game of golf and the game of Life. I am 38, a recovering Alcoholic of 7+ years and have been trapped in defining myself by my score since I was 13. This book gave me great wisdom and perspective on what is really important in life, not golf, but God and making a difference in others lives through the love and sacrifice of Jesus. I look forward to attending one of your retreats and thanking you in person for this great book, and challenging me to find my purpose and the Johnny in me. Thank you so much.
Loved the book! 2nd purchase from the "store" maybe you'd like to throw in the box some of the dirt from Utopia so I can have my own private ceremony in my backyard. It would mean a lot to me!
The book was a gift to my head golf professional. It noticed it on his book shelf one morning and asked if he minds if I read it. I started it that night and finished it that night. I couldn't put it down. I do have to admit is the first book to bring tears to my eyes. I then decided to order books for my father, grandfather, and friends. Hands down the best golf book ever written. It has changed the way I look at golf and life. Thanks.

I enjoyed the book and look forward to sharing it with both friends and relatives. Someday, I might like to visit Utopia, TX and/or hear David Cook speak.
Every person should read this book-christian or non-christian. Thanks for writing it. I know that many will come to know the Lord through your efforts.
Thank you for this great book. I am learning to apply the teachings in this book in my life in a way that you may not have heard before. You see I dont play golf at all. I am very familiar with the game because my brother and my dad were avid golfers. My dad died last May. One of his dear friends and golfing partners gave him your book during the last months of his battle with cancer. It was in turn given to me. I am in the process of re-reading it now. The message is well presented and powerful. As a believer I was thrilled to read the final chapter and see Johnny pass along the greatest instruction of all. But as I said I am a believer, so why am I re-reading it now and intend to read it a 3rd or 4th time? Because the golfing techniques taught in this book apply perfectly to my sport as well. I shoot sporting clays. Sporting clays is often described as golf with a shotgun. Not only is the game similar, but the techniques, forms and skills required to shoot a great round of clays mirrors those required for a great round of golf. I have adopted your five preparation points: Observation, Strategy and SFT as my pre-shot routine. I wish I could say that it instantly made me a champion, but that isnt the case. I'm on that plateu trying to get to the next level using a newly aquired and not yet comfortable set of tools. Like golfers, I have spent a lot of money on instructors and never came across a Johnny. Your book is very helpful to my game and I plan to paint SFT on my sporting clays golf cart and hope to discover another shooter that has also found your book helpful. God bless you. Thanks.
I finished reading this incredible journey last night which was sent to me by my brother in law. The book is a masterpiece and I look forward to sharing it with my four boys. My wife began reading it this morning.
Our men thoroughly enjoyed listening to Paul Colman as he entertained through music, song and audience participation. He prepared the platform for Dr. David Cook, who provided an inspirational message about how men can truly be men and serve Christ and others. We not only laughed, sung songs, and enjoyed the fellowship, we left with the Mindset of a Champion. The requests for the book and DVD’s are still coming in from attendees so they might share with friends."
