About Us

Encouraging and equipping those on life’s sacred journey…

Dr.David Cook Background: The Links of Utopia is named for the golf course found in the book, Golf's Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia. This name was chosen because it was at the Links of Utopia that the main character of the book began his own sacred journey, moving from success to significance.

It encompasses the mission of the founder, Dr. David Cook, and his 34+ year sacred journey.

Mission: The Links of Utopia exists to call out, encourage and equip those beginning or continuing on their sacred journey. This mission is accomplished through the following:

  1. The book: Golf's Sacred Journey. The Links of Utopia facilitates the distribution of books to those who choose to seed its’ message with others within their sphere of influence. This includes individuals, golf organizations, companies, non-profits, and churches.

  2. Retreats and events. The Links of Utopia holds multi-day retreats in Utopia, facilitated by Dr. Cook and the team. These retreats are designed to allow readers to deepen their experience with the book and/or share the experience with their friends. Dr. Cook also shares the messages of Golf’s Sacred Journey around the country at events sponsored by other organizations, ministries, and churches.

  3. The Golf’s Sacred Journey Guide Book. Launched in early ’09, the Links of Utopia now provides a 12 week companion study. Designed to inspire and facilitate discussions about the principles found in the book, this guide is suited for one-on-one or small group setting.

  4. Community Utopia – The Links of Utopia will be launching an online community to facilitate interaction, fellowship and camaraderie for those who are passionate about life’s sacred journey.

  5. Donations/Scholarship Funding – Through the generous donations of individuals, foundations and other organizations, the Links of Utopia is able to provide complimentary books to youth, charities, schools, and other organizations that share our mission. Donations also fund scholarships that allow individuals and ministry leaders to attend Sacred Journey Retreats at a reduced rate or free.

Personnel: The organization includes Dr. Cook, author of Golf's Sacred Journey and one of the leading sport psychologists in the country, a support staff, and an army of volunteers (Johnnies) who are using the book to impact the life of another.

The Links of Utopia Directors coordinate events, manage all aspects of operations, establish partnerships, and develop relationships with those who share its mission. All books are distributed and managed by our support staff in Utopia, Texas.

The Links of Utopia teams with other non-profit organizations, ministries as well as golf professionals, like Jim Hardy and Stan Utley, to extend our reach and impact.
